Wine: Blackwing 2006 Shiraz of South Australia

My answer to Nate's beer blog:
I always buy Pinot Noirs. And occasionally Merlots. Rarely anything else. I'm often subjected to white wines and various blends. Some are okay. Some are not okay. This evening when I went in search of a good red wine to accompany dinner and Van Helsing, I thought I'd stray from the comfort of a Pinot Noir and try something else. I got this Shiraz. Now that the bottle is nearly empty, its becoming increasingly likable, but it didn't really start out that way. It almost tasted buttery to begin with. Not quite what I look for in a red wine. Or any color wine. Or anything, really, except for butter. Still, its not entirely disappointing. Just not quite what I'm looking for.
