A Car for Every Student

I read an article which stated that the 2007 budget for public education in the county in which I live (Cherokee) will be $600M. The student population will be 35k. Thus the cost per student will be a little over $17k. That's like a nice private education tuition, plus a very nice used car, per student, per year. I think I pay too much in property taxes.
