Crosswalk to Nowhere
Annually, for many years, my family and another made the trek south to the Gulf Coast of Florida. Much of this drive is through pine forests that are very distinctive of Florida. If you've ever been, you'll know what I'm talking about. Anyway, that's not important.
Twice each trip (once for each direction), as we're just cruising through Apalachicola National Forest (Florida Hwy 65), I would think, "I should really get my phone out so I can record this..." right as we're passing by the crosswalk. And then one year I actually remembered right before the crosswalk.

For context, this is a very long, very straight and very boring road, along which is nothing. Here's the video from which the above snapshot was taken.
How much in the middle of nowhere are we talking? I'm glad you asked. I started with the geo coordinates from the video, jumped over to Maps, and then progressively zoomed out while keeping things roughly centered on the cross walk. There is just so much nothing out there.
Sure, there's this dirt path semi-circle on the north-western side of the road. If you watch the video, you'll see there's like legit signage about the crosswalk too. Some municipality (Bristol, FL?) presumably decided that it was worth the cost of installing all of this and I REALLY want to know what the deal is.
