Denying Winter
There really are only two seasons here ... Summer and Winter ... Warm and Cold. The former lasts for no more than four or five months a year and my happiness is contained in that time.
While my house was being built I had a bedroom made into a den by removing the original door from a hallway and adding french doors into the foyer. It's a small-ish room with windows facing towards the street. To reduce glare on my several computer screens I added translucent shades.
Now that we have entered the non-Warm months of the year, I bought a big electric heater, closed the french doors and while the rest of the house suffers at sub-zero temperatures, this room is kept at a comfortable 75.
No more having to see Winter or feel Winter. Unless I have to go outside of this room for some reason. My computers are in here so I haven't come up with any scenarios that would require such extreme actions.
I need to find a good way to activate the electric heater in my bedroom so that if I ever do need to head that way, I can get the heater going an hour in advance and then make a run for it after I receive confirmation of the successful de-frosting of the room.
