The Economy of Hair Cuts
Subsequent to moving to Alpharetta, my previous barbershop (located on Fulton Street in Manhattan) became unacceptably inconvenient despite their great price and abundant pornographic magazines available for perusal while you waited. My new barbershop (despite not peddling porn) commands a $17 price tag, which is fully twice what I used to pay, but it provides an entire experience (complete with a straight-edge razor around the edges, hot shaving cream and that all-important steamed towel afterwards) worth every penny.
It occurred to me today that I could save money by getting hair cuts more frequently than my current every-two-months average. This clarifying shampoo that gets the chlorine out of my hair on the 3 - 5 days a week that I swim costs a fortune. And the amount of shampoo necessary to effectively remove the chlorine varies considerably between when my head has had a #3 recently applied to it; and it's state some months later.
By doubling the frequency at which I get my hair cut, I should be able to significantly more than halve my shampoo consumption. But I'm not sure how many shampoo uses I get from an 8.5oz bottle. Hrmm.
