FedEx = Awesome

While in Missouri my productivity tanked when my laptop suddenly decided that it would only function up-side-down (while on battery power); an inconvenient arrangement to say the least. More than one person helpfully suggested that I could place the keyboard on my feet while lying on my back....

I was not surprised when, after pressing lots of keys at the direction of the Apple Support guy, nothing changed. During the course of the phone call we were able to determine conclusively that a software issue was not at fault for a loose power connection.

I handed my three-week-old laptop over to an Apple Genius upon returning home who indicated that it would be shipped off to "the depot" for diagnosis and treatment. No indication was given regarding the duration but The Genius did indicate that they'd be happy to ship the laptop directly to my home when its recovery was complete. Given the unrelenting and difficult-to-navigate crowds at the Apple Store, this was great news.

I returned from a bike ride this afternoon to find a FedEx missed-delivery tag on my door. According to Sleep Cycle, I was in the midst of deep sleep at the time of the first delivery attempt. The FedEx operator indicated that it was too late in the day to re-deliver, but that I could wait until 8pm and pick it up myself. Fine. A few minutes later the door bell rings and the FedEx guy is standing there with my laptop. My hero. Apparently he coincidentally decided to re-attempt delivery.

FedEx = Awesome.
