Icelandair

My subway rides these days are fairly rare; no longer daily, they tend to be weekly. I don't have nearly as many opportunities to be accosted by stunningly stupid advertisements. And recently I got to see a new one. Icelandair. Their ad touts the short flight time from JFK and the affordable price. A trio of slightly peculiar-looking (Icelandic?) airline employees decorate the foreground of the ad, while the background shows what appears to be a vast beach adorned not with sand but smoldering lava rock. It is desolate. Without vegetation. Just smoke, lava rock, and blue-green water.

I think that if I wanted to attract visitors to my country I wouldn't show them a sweeping depiction of destruction.
