In-door Rowing

In-door Rowing

I "treated" myself to an in-door rower which arrived one week ago. I love numbers. And collections of numbers. And adding to collections of numbers. I've spent more time staring at my rowing spreadsheet on my iPad this past week than I'll ever admit - distances, durations, meters-per-second, 500m split times, cumulative durations, calories, records and so on - it's all there. And it's glorious. In the past seven days (five days of rowing) I've covered 45k in 03:10:40 (hh:mm:ss) burning some 3,000+ calories. I choose not to calculate my increased food cost. The most interesting stat is wattage though. Assuming some method of lossless DC conversion, I can power three average laptops for roughly half an hour while simultaneously trickle-charging their batteries. It's not an ideal solution during blackouts, but it's a fun thought. Here's to hoping it doesn't grow old anytime soon.
