McKinley Training - Weeks 1, 2 of 26
A McKinley expedition is supposed to be preceded by six to nine months of significant training. Since I'm fairly complacent about the whole thing, having succeeded once already, I opted to just go with six months. Or so. I don't know what makes this the official start. Besides my having declared it the official start. There.
I worked out three days each of the past two weeks, which is really sad. It should be at least four. The gym was getting boring so I switched to hauling a ridiculously heavy pack up (and down) the stairs in my apartment. But that got boring, too. So I switched to running the stairs. That's less boring. But I can hardly do that for any extended period of time. Its like trying to get a thorough workout by sprinting everywhere.
I started out doing no more than 20 flights of stairs and by the end of the second week I was up to 55 flights (before I would give up and decide that was enough). I doubt that rate of increase will continue for very long.
And this week I think it'll be a combination of the gym and stairs.
You see, the lack of inspiration for working out can be blamed on my job situation. I'm working at home. And I love working at home. Therefore, why would I want to stop working, leave my apartment, and go workout? Before, I was working at work. And I don't like working at work, so I have every motivation to want to get up and leave my work to go to the gym.
Its all relative. If I find my daily routine torturous, then going to the gym will be enjoyable. If my routine is pleasant, then the gym isn't fun any more.
There's just no winning. Speaking of winning....

My sister (2 of 4) bet me $5 that she would get laid off this week. If she wins, then she keeps her job. If she loses, then she gets $5. It's a win-win, you see?
