Motivation

The problem is that I enjoy my job. Nearly the entire time I worked at Bloomberg, the majority of the time I was at Lime Wire and some of the time I was at the Wall Street Journal, going to work was associated with stress and/or boredom. I can credit my inept manager at the Atlanta Journal Constitution for giving me the motivation to swim a mile every morning before going into the gray, lifeless, cubicle office.

Going to the gym each morning to thoroughly exhaust myself was key to an enjoyable work day. But my work presently is fun. Going to the gym involves having to tear myself away from my laptop, my work and my hourly wage. Why would I want to do that? I've learned the secret: if I want to workout, I need to do so before I sit down at my laptop in morning. I'm incapable of "quickly checking email", or just working for a few minutes. Next thing I know, fifteen hours have passed and it's about time to get something to eat.

I set a new WoD #1 record of 26:27. Just eighty-seven seconds shy of my goal.
