National Security, Protection of Life & Property ... and the IRS

News to me, but there's an impending budgeting problem that may result in the federal government mostly shutting down on Friday night. I know. You're sad like I am.

The article, in speaking specifically about government web sites, indicates that, of course, not everything will shut down. Services related to national security and the protection of life and property will continue to operate. Oh, and the IRS, because, "we need to be able to collect the money that is owed to the U.S. government."

You know, it'd be a huge step in the right direction if they simply left it like that.

Did you ever see that Simpson's episode where Burns decides to fire people who think they're non-essential? It's brilliant really. I can't find it with Google, so I'll have to index all of them with Get and see what I can find.
