No Animals Allowed

The post office here, and various stores note on their doors, "No animals allowed except seeing-eye dogs." This strikes me as more than a little asinine because the seeing-eye dog exclusion isn't generally applicable to people who can read printed text.

When calling some 800-number with a menu system, they do not typically ask in English, "if you speak Spanish, press 5 now." It asks in Spanish, surprisingly enough.

Given that Target was sued because of the lack of handicap accessibility of its WEB SITE, it is pretty safe to assume that seeing-eye dogs are allowed just about everywhere; and for those few places where they aren't allowed, printed signs obviously aren't the right answer. There doesn't seem to be much need to assure the sighted that if they weren't sighted, they could in fact enter this establishment with a seeing-eye dog.

It is pretty safe to just stick with, No animals allowed.
