One Sane Cop

So, yet another instance of a cop abusing his power with his taser. Instead of having to posses an even rudimentary ability to control a situation outside of brute force and physical violence, the cop tasers the kid for no justifiable reason. Ultimately the cop was cleared of any wrong doing (surprise!), but in a civil suit the kid was awarded $40,000.

What warrants my mentioning all of this is the comment another (supposed) cop made:

Bad, bad officer safety on that stop. I hate to Monday morning quarterback a fellow cop, but for the next 20 years, this tape should be shown in academies as an example of what NOT to do when encountering citizens. Inaccurate and unclear directions, uncompromising attitude, impractical escalation of force, and in the end, a misuse of a weapon for the offense (basically, failure to comply). He just blew it all around. I hope part of his “settlement” involves his salary.
