Ouray
I ordered another 70m Mammut 8.9mm Serenity rope. It's an awesome rope. Light weight. Long. Strong (I've fallen on it many times). And in New Hampshire and I had the dumb luck to crampon straight through it so now I've come into possession of two somewhat shorter 8.9mm ropes.
Aimee is going to require her own pair of boots, and Whittaker Mountaineering was selling off their used rental equipment and I picked up a pair of Scarpa Omegas for 1/3rd the usual retail price. Awesome deal considering the only reason I didn't end up with a pair of Invernos for her was that I neglected to click the final "confirm order" button last time around. Dumb luck?
I learned earlier today that Ouray, CO was Ayn Rand's inspiration for "Galt's Gulch" in Altas Shrugged. If you've read the book then a picture makes the inspiration obvious.
