Shoulder to Shoulder

Shoulder to Shoulder

My former employer may finally have to pay the price.

There's this picture in the article of the CEO standing in their new offices. ("New" in the sense that they were still under construction when I left.) And the thing I noticed first? There's no space. The developers are sitting shoulder-to-shoulder.

When I started we had tons of space. There was plenty of room for one's computer, some books, papers, extra stuff for decoration, and you couldn't see the keyboard/monitor of another developer out of the corner of your eye. No visual distractions. That's important to me. And the ample space also made sound less of an issue. Although I still prefer offices.

Then a move was made and all of the sudden we have like 30 inches of desk width per "station". It was a rushed moved though, and I assumed the lack of space was just growing pains. Obviously in the new offices that would be resolved.... Obviously not.

There are lots of perks to working there but the perks that are most important to me are those that pertain to the place I have to sit 40+ hours a week (80+ if we're talking about last week. uggh). Maybe that's just me....
