Wedding

A friend of mine, Joel, got married this past Saturday. I flew into Atlanta and Daniel and I drove down to Destin. We rented this cool condo on the beach, which was also home to the bachelor party. Fun stuff.

Joel's sister was unable to attend the wedding due to being over-seas, so we arranged to do a video conference (via Skype). I got a nice front-row seat and had my laptop spun around and facing the action so she could see what was going on.

Afterwards, I wandered through the crowds with the laptop. Whenever someone would recognize her face on the screen they'd stop and talk. This was weird in several ways - because I don't know the person who is talking to Jess. And its a conversation that doesn't involve me. And they're standing right in front of me talking at me, but not to me. I just tried to make myself invisible. "Don't mind me. I just hold the laptop."

Most of the conversations were asinine - "ooh's" and "ahh's" and screeching sounds of excitement. The best conversations were those that went:

Stranger: Jess?! Is that you? How are you--wow, that laptop is so THIN. Is that a--

Jess:*waiting patiently*

Me: MacBook Air. It is. Beautiful, huh?

Jess:*waiting patiently*

Stranger: Yeah. Seriously. It's just so thin. May I hold it?

Jess:*waiting patiently*

Stranger: And its so light, too!

Ha ha. Anyway. It was a good wedding.

Also, and lastly, going to yet another wedding has made me realize how much I would prefer to just *be* married and not have to *get* married.
