Fooooood
The final detail - meal planning - is done. We're going to bring roughly twenty-two days of food that we can stretch out to twenty-five. There won't be any pancakes, bacon and maple syrup breakfasts this year but it'll still be decent food.
It has taken me three years of Alaska trips to finally admit that a one-liter pee bottle just isn't adequate. I'm following Wes' example this time around and bringing a ninety-six ounce nalgene bottle/bag thing.
The Smileys (yes, that's a last name) of SmileysProject.com fame, will be in Alaska the same time we're there. They are planning on climbing the Cassin though. Oh! And I just noticed they're also climbing the West Face of Mt. Huntington. Anyway, if they acclimatize on the West Buttress, we might get a chance to see them. Maybe. I'll do my best to not impersonate a giddy teen at an opening-day Twilight movie showing.
The picture below: the West Ridge of Hunter starts up the ramp near the bottom-right. Not the right-most ramp, but the next-to-right-most ramp. Then you follow the ridge line (roughly) all the way up to the big "N".
Fifteen days until departure.
