Hooooooooome
Finally home. Ten hours door-to-door, thankyouverymuch New York air traffic control. I'm looking at you, JFK. You'd think that if someone decided to put three airports next door to each other, that they'd take a moment to consider the implications. I guess it probably didn't actually happen quite like that; but it makes it sound reasonable to complain.
The flight pushed back from the gate thirty minutes late (after the initial one hour delay). We then sat another thirty minutes on the ground, inching forward, before the tower finally told us that we were twentieth in line for takeoff. We spent more time sitting on the ground in LaGuardia than flying to Atlanta.
Anyway, I'm home. I don't have to sleep on a plywood bed any more. And my speed cube arrived. It's sooo cool.
Oh, I almost forgot. The coolest thing ever. So, I get to LaGuardia way too early (due to the flight delay), and I'm sitting at the gate trying to get some work done, but I'm unable to concentrate because this guy on one side of me is having a full-volume conversation with his phone, while some kids on the other side of me are kicking over luggage. Then it hit me: I have access to the Delta Crown Room. In short, this means: satellite tv, comfortable seating, office-like work areas, fully stocked bar (free), snack food, wifi. And it's quiet. So very quiet. The next hour and a half race by and then I reluctantly return to the gate for my flight. I'm going to get to the airport early for my next flight.
