Microsoft ... A Strategic Communicator

I chanced to read an article on Ars about Microsoft hiring a new VP of Corporate Communications (yet again).

In this article they quote a blog post by this soon-to-be Microsoft VP, Frank Shaw. This gem stands out:

And I've been able to work with Microsoft, a company who truly believes in the strategic power of communications.

True to form, Microsoft isn't accused of having the power of innovation; of advancing the state of the art; of innovating consumer electronics or software. Instead, he deftly points out that Microsoft depends (on a strategic level) on its ability to communicate. It isn't necessarily communicating anything truthful or helpful to people. Mostly it's FUD. Everyone knows this though. It's just amusing to see someone so plainly fail to cover up that point.
