Microwave to Nowhere
I went on a hike to the top of Mt. Oglethorpe. Overall, it is an underwhelming mountain-top experience, but it is very convenient for me, and that counts for a lot. In case you're wondering, basically, there are too many trees. They have four or five observation decks, but they haven't really thinned any of the trees surrounding them. In the winter, you have fantastic views (mostly). The rest of the year, you can barely see anything.
Anyway.
There's some FAA infrastructure up there and other stuff, including this maybe ~400 square foot bunker of a builder.

I zoomed and cropped the image, which you can see at the top of this blog post. What caught my eye is that it appears there are two microwave antennas pointed at each other from opposite corners of the building. What I'm imagining is two redundant systems that (for whatever reason) must be entirely (physically, electrically, ...) isolated from each other, yet still need to communicate with each other, so they put these two guys on the roof, some twenty feet from each other.
