A Naming Fit of Stupidity

A Naming Fit of Stupidity

Beretta used to make this beautiful .40 caliber handgun called the 96 Brigadier (specifically the Inox). And it was beautiful. And then one day I found that they had completely discontinued the 96 series. No explanation. Meanwhile, their law-enforcement-loves-em 9mm 92 series continued on.

And then last week I found that the .40 caliber line had been resurrected, or, more accurately, reincarnated - with a slightly modified look, and a very familiar name: 90two.

Yes, that's correct. Beretta makes two distinct lines of handguns: the 92 and the 90two. This is because the marketing people at Beretta are idiots, apparently. I drove thirty miles to a gun store only to be shown a 92FS because even though I found several different ways to draw a distinction between the two lines while I was talking to the gun store on the phone, they still managed to entirely misunderstand me. "92" and "90two" sound very similar when spoken, it seems.

Absolutely insane.

Here's the new 90two. I prefer the Inox look, but, it's better than nothing. I have one on order. It should arrive by the end of the week.
