In the grand scheme of things, it isn't the biggest possible corporate failure imaginable. It seems like PayPal took a list of states, sorted them alphabetically, and then converted them to 2-character abbreviations – which are then not sorted alphabetically.

So, yeah, state names and state abbreviations don't always sort identically. Now you know.
