Starlink Mini
My new Starlink Mini arrived today. It's not quite as "mini" as I thought it would be – smaller than a MacBook Pro, but not a lot smaller. Considerably lighter though. It is a bit wider than I had expected. I hope that it'll fit safely into a large backpack.
The setup experience was great. The app walked me through everything with no challenges, even though I had the Starlink pointed in the wrong direction, near the garage, under a canopy of trees. Part way through the connection process, it had me reorient the Starlink. The feedback related to my rotation of the Starlink and its representation in the app was great. Very smooth.
I had assumed the Starlink would have a USB-C power port. Instead, it's a DC plug. I found an adapter on Amazon for $10. Ordered that. Arrives tomorrow. I've got an old USB portable battery that may or may not put out enough juice to satisfy the Starlink – I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
And then I need to plan an excursion down to the waterfalls with some kid supplies and work supplies to see how feasible this is.
More to come!
