Suffering

I was talking to Wes, who was on my McKinley expedition. He and some of the other people on the team are going up Aconcagua. Meanwhile I'm planning my next McKinley trip. The conversation moved to training and Wes posed the question, "Why do we put our bodies through this?" My only answer was, "Because I'm freakin' bored out of my mind in New York." I'm wondering whether I have a better answer. I should probably have a better answer. Maybe, "May as well do this while I can"? That's not really a better answer.
