The Spectral Man-a-lizer
I was asked what I am currently working on. "A spectrum analyzer," I replied. Blank stare. That's not uncommon though so I didn't think anything of it. Then there was a follow-up question: "A spectral man-a-lizer??" It was my turn for the blank stare. We sorted out the confusion and laid to rest the homo-erotic undertones.
There's still much to be done, but my filter-chain is working; reading from the SDR-IQ is as stable as its going to get (for a device that blindly corrupts its buffer if you don't constantly say nice things to it and about it); my framework for platform-agnostic graphing is performing admirably; and I think I almost have a handle on the conversion from complex dft output to dBm.
When I'm done, I want it to look something like this.
The graph represents a 50 KHz span centered on 1040 KHz (WPBS). I can correctly claim that I have seen this radio station; but never heard it.
