Affordable Luxuries
There are countless YouTube channels that get millions of views for showing us the experience of dining at a Michelin star restaurant, or what some $10,000 steak (?!?) is like, or the best Sushi in Japan. Some luxuries are expensive by their very nature.
On Fridays, we grill. I grill. Beyond the beef that we form into patties, and the package of brats and buns, the cost is charcoal and a little bit of time. It's time well spent though. The kids are incapable of being inside when I'm outside grilling.
And, man, the flavor from charcoal grilled meat – even the cheap(-ish) burgers and brats – is hard to beat. Add in melted cheese and a toasted bun; there's a reason its a weekly staple for us. Warming up the leftovers during the next day or two, the charcoal grilled meat smell permeates the kitchen.
These affordable luxuries are where it's at.
