Are These Your Children or Your Grandchildren?

I dared to sprinkle a tiny bit of pepper on the eggs, drawing complaints from three kids. In the afternoon I took the crew to the Beach Club, where the front desk lady asked if they were my kids or my grandkids. Thanks, lady. You're no spring chicken yourself!

Are These Your Children or Your Grandchildren?

Morning Carelessness

I got careless this morning. The sheer ease with which yesterday was executed made me lose focus. When I cooked the eggs this morning, I erred, twice. First, after I salted the eggs, I dared to sprinkle the slightest bit of pepper on them. I knew better; there's no excuse. I answered for that with complaints from three of the kids. "Flip it up-side-down. Magic! No pepper." Second, I pulled the eggs off the skillet the way I like them, not considering that any noticeable amount of moisture left in the eggs would cause K to flip out. He did. But only briefly. I gestured to the frying pan. He "finished" [over-]cooking his eggs, and then ate them without complaint. I'll do better tomorrow.

School During Summer??

We caught up on school work today. Everyone was as excited as you might imagine. Math first. Then literature. Piano. Mandarin. Then we'll head to the pool where I can continue working on my laptop. Everyone is excited to get to the pool, but there's some tropical storm (Arthur?) that keeps sending intermittent storms this way. The lifeguards don't like it when there's thunder in the area.
