Vicksburg is Dead to Me

I offered them any weekend adventure; no limits. They countered with fast food and bowling, then vetoed the beach in favor of the glorified sand pile by the lake. Meanwhile, my road trip strategy of keeping everyone mildly dehydrated assumes the gas station bathrooms work. New rule: avoid Vicksburg.

There's an unreasonable number of hoodies in this picture.

I woke up at 05:30 – well in advance of the kids. The secret to a peaceful morning is making sure you get a jump start on the little ones. Well, the real secret to a peaceful morning is to have a wife who handles all of the morning breakfast logistics while I'm barricaded in my office, working away at my job. That's not an option this week though!

K and A aren't huge fans of eggs. They all love their nutritionally worthless cereal though. I told them yesterday that breakfast could be (within reason) whatever they wanted, but it was going to begin with eggs. I toasted up some sourdough english muffins that we picked up at the grocery store last night. I scrambled some eggs, cooking them "flat" as though I was making an omelette. Then I carved up the egg to fit the english muffin profile, sliced each of the two sandwiches in half, and handed them over to the kids. Afterwards, K, H and J chowed down on Cookie Crips while A opted for Frosted Flakes.

Annoyingly, half of the toasted, buttery english muffin went into the trash, but the eggs were all eaten up. In particular, K said it was delicious and didn't utter a sound of complaint, which was awesome. A wasn't excited, but ate his eggs without complaint as well.
