A Mouse
New computer, no trackpad, so I need a mouse. My requirements: laser preferred, Bluetooth if wireless, not a Microsoft mouse, and ideally not from a company that uses serial commas in its product literature. Thank you for your help.

While I wait for FedEx to deliver my new computer, two articles worth saving: "Software is Hard," which calls software construction the most complex thing mankind has attempted, and "Microsoft's Long, Slow Decline."
Microsoft ... A Strategic Communicator
Microsoft's incoming VP of Corporate Communications praises the company's belief in "the strategic power of communications." Not innovation, not advancing the state of the art. Mostly FUD. It's amusing to watch someone so plainly fail to cover that up.
Heat Stroke
The AC died while I was out of town, and I came home to a house climbing past 86 degrees. The repairman is coming "sometime today." A small bug who'd taken up residence on my desk did not make it. He'll be missed.
Swimming: Day 10
A new best mile at 40:17, but I can feel a plateau coming on. Now I'm working on swimming farther underwater, trying to convince my body it doesn't really need oxygen all the time.
Let's go Fly a Kite
A stranger called insisting I was a kite-flying expert who owned a film company, courtesy of a referral from someone I'd never met. Years later it finally occurred to me to track him down. Turns out it was a Kurtis, with a K.
Swimming: Day 9
A mile in 41:46, slightly slower, which I'm blaming squarely on the whole chicken I ate beforehand. Also: I attempt hard-boiled eggs and nearly boil the pot dry. This is what happens when you live without a microwave timer.
Swimming: Day 8
A rest day paid off: the mile dropped almost nine minutes to 40:49, with better reach on each stroke and far fewer breaths. I could probably shave off five more if I ever learned to do a flip turn.
0 A.D.
I haven't truly loved a video game since Myth 2: Soulblighter, Bungie's magnum opus. The open-source 0 A.D. shows promise, though I waited years for Spore only to watch EA ruin it. And there are no Dwarfs lobbing bombs, so.
