Back to the Grind in Istanbul
I'm counting down the days until I "get" to spend twenty-six hours traveling door-to-door: just three more work days, including eating out for two team dinners. It feels very daunting.
Sleeping on the couch last night worked out okay. I actually got a bit chilly at one point so I put on my Apple track jacket. There are no blankets here; it's kind of peculiar. Even my bed was adorned with a square of material that is closer to that of a thin doormat than a blanket. Also, what's the deal with the complete absence of top sheets here? Is that just not a normal thing everywhere?
Meanwhile, the noise from the street down below is unrelenting through the night, but that's preferable to trying to sleep while being uncomfortably hot. I've had the one AC unit running non-stop since we returned yesterday evening, so maybe my room will be cool enough to sleep in tonight if I leave the bedroom door open. If I close the door, the room starts heating up (body heat?). The room is only barely larger than my bed.
I didn't get the chance to exercise this morning because the boss wanted some new information ready to present at 9:30am. Tomorrow morning I'll try to make it over to the Hagia Sophia. It's an hour walk each way, so as long as I get out the door first thing, I should have time. I can't be this close to a landmark like that, and not make it over there and snag some photos.
