Kindle Kids Catch 22

My 9yo comes to me with his Kindle. He's reading a book that has some printable supplementary material. When he taps on the link, the Kindle tells him that printing is not supported from within Amazon Kids. Hmm.

I exit Amazon Kids for him. Maybe we can access the book outside of Amazon Kids and then print the material. Nope.

We search settings to see if we can enable printing support from within Amazon Kids. Nope.

I search the web and find that last year there was an Amazon Kids app for iPad that has since been discontinued.

Maybe the Kindle iPad app supports Amazon Kids, and I can access the book from his Kids account on my iPad and print it that way? Nope.

Maybe I can access this book via Amazon Kids on the web? Nope.

We finally gave up. It looks like the only way forward is to buy the book outside the context of Amazon Kids and then we could access the supplementary material and print it.

This really comes as no surprise when I consider other Amazon fails.
