New Splash Pad at Church

Sundays mornings are always busy. Wake up the kids. Eat breakfast. Get dressed for church. "Yes, and your socks." Make sure you know where your shoes are. Comb your hair and brush your teeth. The kids jump around for a few minutes and then it’s time to load up the car. Half the time we have to swing by the post office to grab our tithe check. Finally, the hour drive to church.

This morning, merely arriving at church was met with particular delight beyond the usual excitement*. Apparently a water pipe burst. It was gushing into the driveway. I let the family out at the front door and went to park the car. When I made it up to the door, the pastor was out inspecting the torrent. I congratulated him on reaching out to the young kids with the new splash pad water feature. “It is sure to be a big hit!” And probably at the low, low cost of a dollar-a-minute of drinking water literally going down the drain.

*There is actual excitement because of how much they enjoy their Sunday School class, which is very encouraging to me.
