I added a PostGIS-enabled Postgres database with location and tracklog tables, seeded with McKinley's camps, the summit, and home. As Spot beacons arrive, PostGIS finds our nearest point of interest, so you can tell which camp we're at. Next: a Loopt-esque iPhone app.

From Mountain Side to Blog Post

I won't haul blogging gear up the mountain, but Corey's bringing a Spot Locator. The plan: hit send, OS X Mail catches it and fires an AppleScript that hands off to a Perl script, which posts to Blogger. Profit. A walk through each step, including the gotcha that ate an evening.

I Hate Email

Back to OS X Mail from GMail's web interface, and the first thing I rebuild is my recent-mail Smart Folder: received or viewed in 15 days or flagged, but not in a list folder. Most clients need demon spirits for that. The fix: nest Smart Folders to combine ANDs and ORs.

WoD #1 in 29:05, two minutes faster than my first attempt. Still a ways to 25:00, which might be unrealistic. To go faster tomorrow I'll have chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and chocolate syrup. I'm not sure how that follows, but I'm certain it does.

Thanks to the economy, renting a house or condo can beat an apartment on price. While browsing listings I found one boasting a private courtyard with stepping stones. Feast your eyes. They're my favorite.

MadWorld

I just mailed a copy of MadWorld to a friend whose Wii experience so far runs to tennis and bowling. He won't know until Tuesday. I'm expecting a phone call, probably from his wife.

Desperate Times

My apartment offered to renew at the current rate with the last month free. If I wanted to stay, that would make me happy. I don't, so it just stinks of desperation. A reminder of the midtown place that raised my overpriced rent and was shocked when I declined.
