Pull-ups for Screen Time
I went trail running with H (8yo) this morning. This was our third such run. Running on paved roads is (1) painful, and (2) painfully boring. Trails include ditches, rocks, roots, puddles, branches and all manner of other things to occupy one's attention instead of wondering how much farther your legs will carry you.
H is fitness freak. He was already inclined to bust out random sets of push ups, squats, lunges and more. And then I told him he could have one minute of screen time for each pull up he does. Now he is constantly in my office doing pull ups. What have I done?
He just hit 60 minutes, accumulated over the past two days.
The other kids wanted in on the action but they can’t do pull-ups. I’ve been working on an exchange ratio for squats, lunges and pushups.
My Starlink Mini arrives next week. I need to work through the logistics of packing up my laptop, Starlink, etc., plus a camp chair, towels, snacks and water, and then plan to spend a weekday afternoon down at the waterfalls with whichever kids are interested. The walk down here is super easy. The walk back home with everything will be less fun.
