Steam Machine, Drones
This is the first time I've been tempted to buy a game console since the Wii U – which I only bought so that I could own Mario Kart.
Clearly it's not the aesthetics of this device causing the temptation. However, the temptation might be quelled when the pricing is announced. At least I can be confident I won’t overpay for the industrial design.
Of course, if I buy this one day then I'd have to start buying games for the kids. I’ll have to think this through.
A recruiter reached out regarding a job opportunity with a drone company looking for someone with expertise in video codecs, streaming and related libraries (yay!), but it is all Rust based (ehh). The last time I took a job thinking, "this is a great opportunity to learn a new language!" they issued me a Windows laptop. I'm not looking to repeat that experience; this time around, I know to ask. GlassDoor comments indicate sub-standard compensation and frequently changing benefits. The tech sounds interesting; I'm less excited about the company itself. We'll see.
In other news, I've got about a month of daily blog posts queued up. Is that because I've got so much on my mind worth saying? Or is it just a testament to high quantity-low quality output? Meanwhile, getting Google / Bing to index stuff is seemingly impossible.
