T-SPLOST
It was my pleasure and privilege this morning to vote NO on T-SPLOST. I hope you did the same.

National Security, Protection of Life & Property ... and the IRS
News to me: the federal government may mostly shut down Friday night over the budget. National security and protection of life and property stay on, and so does the IRS, because they need to collect what's owed. Honestly, leave it like that.
Your Rights vs My Rights
New York may be inching toward a public smoking ban, and one smoker insists we should have the freedom to light up. Sure, in a desert or a forest. But the moment your habit harms the people around you, that freedom ends. Go smoke; just not near the rest of us.
Communist *#$^@!*$ Idiotic #$%*@$!
Apple announced the iPhone 3GS, no big surprises. AT&T, on the other hand, won't extend subsidized pricing to people mid-contract, and people are grumbling. Imagine that: you sign a two-year contract and you're expected to honor it. Difficult to fathom.
Fiction vs Reality
I'm a third of the way into Atlas Shrugged, and I can't help laughing at the headlines about government stimulus packages and their intended benefits.
May the Insanity Never End
This week's new insanity: HR414, requiring camera phones to make a sound when a photo is taken. For my hearing challenged friends I propose a 1,000 candle power flash, and for the Helen Keller would-be's, a phone that vibrates at a 4.2 on the richter scale. Problem solved.
Congressman Price....
My letter to Congressman Price on HR45: criminals already break laws, so more laws won't stop them from getting guns, and I loathe the thought of Georgia being reduced to the level of New York. The cruelest part is the bill's name.
The Nanny State
New York City requires tenants to tell the city if children live in the apartment so the landlord can install window guards, and to enter and check if they don't. A responsible parent would just request them. If anything can be regulated, it will be.
"A substantial cache of arms"
The Indian Navy captured some pirates and seized "a substantial cache of arms," including seven AK-47s, machine guns, an RPG launcher, and, listed by name, "a GPS receiver." I know people with more substantial weapons. What on earth qualifies as "other equipment"?
Proposition 8
A friend posted her thoughts on Prop 8 while trying not to offend anyone. An impossible goal, I suspect. I have no such goal, because this is my soapbox. Fourteen little words and so much debate, so let's get started, shall we?
