The Amazon Music App is Garbage

I cannot get over exactly how awful the Amazon Music app is. I don't mean that the UI is unintuitive or that I disagree with font or style choices. It is just impressively awful in its implementation.

For a company that is renowned for its challenging technical interviews, focussing on algorithmic complexity and problem solving, you'd expect a population there that was capable of producing efficient, smooth, responsive software. Instead, it regularly crashes after the main thread is blocked for too long. The user interface regularly just blocks. Playback stutters. I'm using the previous gen iPad Mini, which isn't exactly a computational powerhouse, but it should be more than adequate for playing music and scrolling through albums. Not so much when Amazon is doing the programming!

While I was typing the above, I had switched over to the web interface on my Mac Studio. Once, playback just stopped. Later, I realized that it was playing two songs simultaneously. WTF.

At some point it'll just be an embarrassment to have Amazon on one's resume.
