Waterfalls, Hiking, Dinner, Etc.
Somehow I managed to get my work done at a reasonable hour, so H, A and I (it's too bad my name doesn't start with an "I", because then my abbreviations could be even more confusing) made the trek down into the valley to hang at the waterfalls. I really should know by now to tell them to put on swim shorts beforehand. They start by tip-toeing carefully around the water, then we might need to cuff up their pants a little, and before long they're sitting in the creek and completely, soaking wet. It is inevitable and I should know by now.
We took the long way home that amounts to a moderately challenging hike, which was a fantastic lead-up to dinner (pork tenderloin and roasted potatoes), then some Zach King, then bed.
When I start a new personal project, it is rarely rushed or on a whim. I've usually rolled the idea around in my head for weeks, months or even years before I commit to actually implementing it – the idea having finally solidified enough to be approachable.
In contrast, work these days, and for the immediate future, involves some nebulous goals. We have a general idea of where we want to be, but so many of the details are still TBD, which makes the day-to-day work, vague. And I don't like vague. I like concrete. Something I can describe is steps.
It's all temporary. Once we have some details nailed down, the project will solidify and everything will improve.
Meanwhile, I'm trying to nail down some medical insurance stuff, and it is an incredible pain. I've said this a lot: America doesn't have a healthcare problem, it is a health insurance problem, which has damaged the healthcare industry, much like low-interest, government-backed mortgages did to the housing market.

Totally unrelated, but I thought I'd share this. As you age, I think your willingness to suppress your desires to appease social politeness fades and your "true self" – for better or worse – emerges. I "rewrite" in my head every misuse of plural pronouns (they /them) as I read things. Posts that preach at me regarding some new, modern cultural religion, get turned off pretty fast. So, this speaks to me.

That is all for today.
