He just wants to hog all of the fun for himself.

Swimming pools, paddle boats on a lake, inflatables, a rock slide, pizza, mountains, rattle snakes, bears, a shirtless missionary and a late-night movie -- oh my.

Bare Bones BBEdit

I think I'm done buying new versions of BBEdit. I have purchased versions 9, 11, 12, 13, 14 and 15 – that I know of. Employers have purchased, on my behalf, versions going back well before that. I, personally, likely had earlier versions as well. And then v16 was released recently. If I can one-click install an upgrade, which was the case for v16, then I should be able to safely assume that it is a free upgrade. But, no: after the upgrade, I was in demo mode. Not free.

It has been years since I could actually tell what was better about a BBEdit upgrade. I mostly buy them to continue supporting Bare Bones. You can see a long feature list in their release notes, but I still have to use third party scripts as BBEdit filters to pretty-format JSON and XML because, I guess, they won't add support for that directly in BBEdit. Or, if they have added it, it is buried in a menu somewhere.

I emailed Bare Bones support to describe the one-click-upgrade-into-demo-mode issue and never heard back from them. I guess I'm going to be a v15 user until it stops working.

Maybe subconsciously I am still upset with Bare Bones for cancelling MailSmith.
