A Prohibition Era Still in the Neighborhood

Tucked in these North Georgia woods sits the rusted skeleton of a Prohibition-era still. A century ago these mountains ran on moonshine, corn whiskey cooked by a hidden creek and kept clear of federal revenuers. The men who ran it souped up their cars to outrun the law, and helped invent NASCAR.

One of several strange historic attractions in the neighborhood: a prohibition era still thing.

Gym Trip

I don't like having my sleep disturbed by an alarm clock (or anything else, to be perfectly honest). Apparently my body agrees, so I conveniently woke up around 5am, avoiding the 5:30am alarm.

This is just day two at the neighborhood gym, so I'm still working on figuring out my routine. Both times I've started with a two mile jog on a treadmill, which is comically easier than a two mile trail run. Having the ground move backward (treadmill) instead having to push myself forward (actual running) – it's definitely not the same amount of effort.

I picked up my goggles which were delivered today. I'm going to delve back into lap swimming. I know there's a lot of old people in this neighborhood, so there's a chance they keep the pool at spa-like temperatures. I hope not. We'll see.
