Inside the Clouds on Mt. Sanderlin
After skipping a workout to feast on anniversary steak, I made up for it with a 7-mile run up Mt. Sanderlin, steep enough in spots that running would be comical. New phobia unlocked: sprinting down wet mountain roads I'm not sure I could stop on. Capped with a haircut and a rainy, empty winery.
Exercise & Progress
I skipped my workout yesterday, and then feasted on steak, sourdough garlic bread and more for our anniversary dinner. As such, I wasn't going to skip my workout this morning. I decided to revisit a route I hadn't been up in a while: the "run" up Mt. Sanderlin. I say "run" because some of it so steep that running would be comical. Last season I managed to "contract" some plantar fasciitis in one foot from running more and more of the downhill sections. That experience entirely derailed my workouts for many months. I'm not eager to repeat that.
The roundtrip was just over 7 miles. I was happy just to be able to make it to the top; I wasn't overly concerned with my time. I did a lot more running downhill (on the less-steep sections) than I expected. I have a new phobia: running down steep mountain roads in the rain. I'm not sure I would have been able to safely stop myself.
