One Half of a Kid
From the Pickens Progress: of 96 kids under county care, a staggering 99.5 percent are from caretakers who abuse methamphetamines. So, pulling out the calculator, approximately one half of one kid is there for some other reason?
I've been trying to keep up with the news in Pickens County (via the Pickens Progress) since I hope to live up there in the next year or two.
This recent article explains that:
"Right now there are 96 kids under the care of Pickens DFCS who want a stable home and family, whether it be one reunited with their biological parents or a new home with foster parents. Of those 96, a staggering 99.5 percent are from parents or caretakers who abuse methamphetamines."
99.5% of 96 kids? *Pulls out calculator.* Right, so, approximately one half of one kid is not there due to parents who abused meth?
