Stop Working and Play with Me!
I have optimized my schedule, my office, and my whole day to be as productive as humanly possible. It does not always work out. Sometimes the failed attempts at productivity have small hands, big feelings, and absolutely no concern for my plans or productivity.
Exercise
I got in a 5.76 mile hike this morning. No running. My calf was quite upset about yesterday's attempt at a record setting run (which I failed by a handful of seconds). I still made it do the work today, but without the running.
School
S has been hard at work on her – I'm not sure what you call it, school schedule and curriculum plan — to make sure in the allotted days, we can reasonably expect to complete all of the bookwork. It has involved no small amount of tears. Home schooling is not for the faint of heart.
I learned today that one of the curriculums we use – it's numbering system for its books (1, 2, 3, 4, ...) does not correspond to grade level. K was rightly depressed and annoyed that he was doing a 4-level book, despite being in the 5th grade. S was annoyed that she had to prove to K that he wasn't a grade behind. And I'm annoyed that there's a curriculum that doesn't align its book numbers with the grade levels. Like what kind of madness is that? If you're going to deviate from a norm to that degree, maybe use letters (A, B, C, D or Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, or ROYGBIV, ...) or some other serialized system.
