Unexpected Advent Reading
10:58am, two minutes to church. Pastor: "Curtis, are you guys ready for this?" Me: "Ready for what?" Turns out it was our family's turn for the Advent reading, per an email I never saw. It went fine. The kids were thrilled to light a candle.
10:58am (two minutes until church starts)
Pastor: Curtis, are you guys ready for this?
Me: Yeah.... Wait. Ready for what?
Pastor: The advent reading. (He motions over to the candles.)
Me: ???
Pastor: This week it is your family's turn. See, it's right here in the bulletin. You didn't see the email?
Me: !!!
Anyway, it went fine. The kids were excited about lighting a candle.
