Free Hymns

I wanted some better music to listen to in general, but also in the context of the drive to and from church. I don't mind spending money on the music, but perhaps there's some particularly good sources for professionally recorded and produced hymns? An online store for "church music"?

I turned to Grok.

Archive.org: Search for "Public Domain Hymns" or specific titles (e.g., "Amazing Grace choir recording"). You'll find collections of historical or volunteer choir recordings, including LibriVox-style or public domain choral versions. Many are downloadable as MP3s.

I'm familiar with Archive.org, of course, but I didn't realize that LibriVox distributed music. Interesting! I follow Grok's instructions – search for public domain hymns – and I was not disappointed by the apparent selection. I picked an album-like-thing (it's not exactly a music store) and downloaded the first one.

It is literally people speaking the words of the hymns.

What in the world.
