Freezer Meals, Fourth Place, Crossposting, and Frozen Boys
VBS for the kids and freezer meals on the counter, a trail run that landed me in 4th (faster than all the girls, at least), the tool I am building to crosspost the blog, and the winter camping trip that taught my boys what cold really means.
VBS & Freezer Meals
The kids – the older four – are in VBS (Vacation Bible School) all this week. This week’s VBS is hosted by a church just outside our neighborhood. Next month, our own church is hosting a week-long VBS. The "V" in "VBS" means "vacation for the parents"; it's an amazing gift to parents.
S, being her productive self, is using this extra time to prep some freezer meals. Later this month we are dropping S (and W) off with her parents, all of whom are going to drive to Texas for a wedding. They'll be away from home for a week. K, H, J and A will be home with me. I'm still working out the specifics in my head, but tentatively I want to pack up our dinners and head to the pool or the lake each evening. We'll eat and swim until the kids are exhausted. Then we'll head home and I'll toss 'em in bed.
Faster Than the Girls
I knocked out a trail run this morning. I advanced my position from 10th place to 4th place. I felt pretty rough getting started, so I'm a little surprised this was my best run. Now, I just have to be about a minute and a half faster to take the 1st place record that has been standing for almost ten years. I probably shouldn't underestimate what it'll take to trim a minute and a half off my time.
