I Don't Like Other People's Kids
Breakfast, mandarin, math, literature, Easy Peasy, lunch, meetings, swimming, dinner, a show and bedtime. What a day.
This Morning
Breakfast went off great, once again. J asked to help, and I gratefully accepted her assistance. J got out the boxes of cereal + bowls + spoons. She got out four eggs, cracked them and scrambled them in a bowl. She also got out the frying pan, the english muffins + butter and so on. She cleaned up a couple messes and got the breakfast table set and ready. I walked her through my sort-of-making-an-omelette cooking process, which differs from the normal scrambled egg cooking process that J can do entirely on her own. My little sous-chef is doing great.
Everyone ate up their eggs and their cereal. A complained to me that he couldn't finish his cereal. I sent him back upstairs to finish it anyway. This is a recurring theme. He never actually has any difficulty finishing his food. He just has to balk once.
H was the last to finish, so he got the dishwasher going after he got his dishes rinsed and loaded. I'm slowly (very slowly) succeeding in training them that there's no reason to leave dirty dishes on the counter. So as not to be a complete hypocrite, it's also a great opportunity for me to immediately wash / load dirty dishes instead of being lazy. We can all grow together!
