Mountain Views to the Horizon
I think I'd be outside at night, secretly trimming and pruning away at the couple trees that limit the breadth of the view, until those trees just kind of slowly disappeared. And I'd probably end up having to pay a massive fine. :-/
Running the Distance
The other day I felt great hitting the trails and I simply knew I was going to break my PR on the downhill valley segment, probably even take the course record. In my head I was writing my victory speech. I ended up being ten seconds slower than my PR (and obviously did not score the CR). Today, I wasn't certain my calf would let me run at all, but it did, and while I didn't "take it easy" I also didn't really push myself like I had the other day in pursuit of that PR. And what was the result? I was just two seconds off my PR time, of course.
You Had One Job
My neighborhood handles all of its own road maintenance. They're re-paving the roads in my area, followed by re-striping. I found evidence of the quality of the contractors handling the work. I would kind of expect the painting truck to have a powerful blower or sweeping mechanism in front that makes sure there's no cruft on the road that prevents the paint from adhering cleanly to the road.
Apparently not.
