Naive to the Ways of the World
My son informed me the pool couldn't possibly be open today: it was Sunday, and the lifeguards should not have to labor on the Sabbath. Also this week, a mutual admiration standoff in the church hallway, and a two hundred thirty-seven pound smoker that apparently no truck can deliver.
My kids are naive to the ways of the world. I know this, but sometimes I forget the extent.
C: A, do you want to go to the pool with just me?
A: Sure!
K: You can't do that. The pool requires a lifeguard, and today is Sunday.
I put my conversation with A on hold to make sure I understood what K was thinking.
C: You're saying that because today is Sunday, and we shouldn't labor on Sunday, that the pool is closed because the lifeguards would have to be at work?
K: Yes. Exactly.
