On a Moonlit Night
Up before five, alone in the quiet while a house full of coworkers slept, I went hunting for the waterfront and found a mall with a giant wall built to hide the sea. The workday was calm and nearly wordless. But at night this neighborhood erupts into crowds I have not seen anywhere in years.
Each weekday of this business trip has events scheduled from 07:30 until 9pm. This morning, after something around seven hours of uninterrupted sleep, I got up a little before 5am. Everyone else was sleep, and would remain so for the next two hours. No noise. No chaos. No talking. Just quiet time to figure things out: get my European power adapter set up, get my laptop charging, get some personal projects updated. Mix up my protein shake.
Yesterday, the boss had said we could get access to his SoHo House gym this morning. When I got up this morning I got dressed for the gym and was ready to go for the moment he arrived. I got word that he's sick, so I'm going to venture down toward the water and see if I can get in some exercise, even if it is only a walk.

I was told that the mosque at the top-center of the first photo was named after some royal kid who died at fifteen years old, having severe scoliosis.
